The Blues have secured their spot in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific grand final after beating the Brumbies 34-20 in a physical semi final encounter tonight.

Both teams gave their all in the game, but the Blues were too clinical with how they played their game plans today to overcome a tough Brumbies side.

The Blues started the game strongly with an unconverted try to AJ Lam in the 1st minute before the Brumbies hit back through Noah Lolesio with a penalty kick at goal in the 5th minute to trail 5-3.

The Blues extended their lead to 12-3 with a converted try to hooker Ricky Riccitelli in the 7th minute.

Lolesio closed the gap again in the 11th minute with another successful penalty kick at goal to trail the Blues 12-6.

The Blues scored two more tries and a conversion to extend their lead to 24-6 before Brumbies' flanker Rob Valetini scored a converted try in the 35th minute to increase their points to 24-13.

Blues flyhalf Harry Plummer converted another penalty kick at goal in the dying stages of the first half to extend their lead to 27-13 heading into halftime.

It was a tough encounter in the second half as both teams only managed to score a converted try each for the final score.

The Blues will now wait for the result of the second semi final tomorrow between the Hurricanes and the Chiefs to determine who they will face in the final next week.

The Hurricanes will host the Chiefs at 4.35pm tomorrow.
