Bhawani Dayal Arya College that was damaged during TC Herald in April.

Bhawani Dayal Arya College students whose classroom was damaged due to TC Harold in April will not have to worry about where they will have their classes as the school has constructed a classroom for about 40 students.

A school building that had two classrooms and a prayer room was damaged.

Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji Spokesperson Kamlesh Arya says they were able to construct the classroom as they got the approval from the Ministry of Education to use funds from the Free Education Grant.

He says they also salvaged some materials and got support from some well-wishers.

Arya says the school management has also made alternative arrangements within the space available at the school to accommodate other students.

He says discussions with the Ministry of Education on reconstruction of the damaged structure is an ongoing matter where they have submitted alternative means of funding and recovery of costs. Arya says reconstruction works will begin once the Ministry gives the green light on the funding.

Arya adds that the Sabha is mindful of the extent of damages and Ministry's priority currently would on the reconstruction of most severely damaged schools but they are hopeful that they would collectively find a solution to the issue soon.
