We are still third in the overall World 7s Series standings and that is a huge achievement in itself.

Those were the words of the Acting CEO of the Fiji Rugby Union Sale Sorovaki when asked by fijivillage News on what is their view on the performance of the Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s team after failing to win any World 7s Series tournament in the past 11 tournaments.

Sorovaki says even though the team has not managed to win in the past 11 tournaments, they are in the top four of the standings and are on the verge of gaining automatic qualification for the 2024 Olympics.

Sorovaki also says there are no plans at the moment to make any changes to the coaching staff.

He says the coaches are probably testing out the available players in the current 7s setup for the Olympics next year.

Sorovaki says he cannot make any comments on the selection of the Strength and Conditioning Coach as he was not part of the selection.

He says they will have to review it and have a discussion with the board if there should be any change to the team management but at the end of the day, the coach is answerable to the team.

Fiji is currently in third place with 130 points.

New Zealand is currently leading the series standing with 164 points while Argentina is in second place with 140 points.

The final two legs of the 2022/2023 World 7s series will be in Toulouse from the 12th to the 14th of next month followed by the London 7s that will be held from the 20th to the 21st of next month.
