Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has opened the new Naviavia Crossing in the Province of Macuata in Vanua Levu to bolster the economy, improve access to education and boost healthcare delivery in the North.

Speaking at the commissioning of the new crossing, Bainimarama says this new crossing will be a vital link for many farmers in Vaturova, Wailevu and Wainikeli in supporting the critical harvesting and transportation of crops, vegetables and a range of other goods.

He says it also provides a safe means of access to schools and higher learning institutions for the youngest members of the communities and also ensures an improved efficiency in the delivery of medical services to Fijians in Vanua Levu.

He adds Fiji’s national infrastructure network is more robust, resilient, and reliable than ever before because they know that strong economies and a strong recovery are built on a strong infrastructure.

The Prime Minister says over the next five years, the Fiji Roads Authority will undertake a capital works programme valued at $2.5 billion and within that financial commitment, $15 million is allocated in this year’s National Budget.

Bainimarama also acknowledged Chair of the Fiji Roads Authority, the CEO Kamal Prasad, and all its staff for the successful execution of this project.
