The management, teachers and students of Ratu Latianara Memorial Primary and College are grateful to the Australian Government for the timely donation of school resources worth $90,000 that will ensure that teaching and learning can continue without any further interruptions.

The Permanent Secretary for Education, Selina Kuruleca, together with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), First Secretary, Humanitarian and Infrastructure, Erin Magee, officiated at the handing over.

Kuruleca says on the 15th of May this year, Ratu Latianara College faced severe flooding caused by heavy rains that began early in the morning and by 10am, the school suffered substantial damage to educational resources and the teachers' quarters.

She conveyed her sincere appreciation to the Australian Government for their timely and immense support.

The Permanent Secretary says under their emergency funds, DFAT approved a budget of $90,000, and these funds have been used to cover the cost of the educational resources for both students and teachers, ensuring that teaching and learning can continue without any further interruptions.

She is urging the Heads of Schools, teachers, students and the school management to take care of the resources and exercise responsibility for the usage of these resources, as they are all aware that a lot of funds, dedication and human resources have been used to purchase these resources.
