The artwork of Tae Kami, a 15-year-old girl who died of cancer in 2008 and the daughter of WOWS Kids Fiji Foundation Sina Kami was sold for $10,500 during an auction in the WOWS Kids Fiji Gala Night Dinner.

WOWS stands for Walk On Walk Strong, a song composed and sung by the late Tae as she was battling with cancer.

One of the trustees and Board member, Anabel Ali says every year they lose at least 20 children to cancer and this figure is a reminder of the terrible disease that inflicts the lives of these innocent children.

Ali says this death constantly reminds us of what we can do to lend a helping hand to them.

An emotional Ali could not contain her tears as she thought about all the children they lose every year through cancer and said the best support people can render these kids is to give generously from the heart and donate money towards enhancing their well-being and curing the disease.

She says these kids deserve a second chance in life and with the help of the corporate businesses and the Government, the children can enjoy a second chance in life.

Ali says the proceeds from last night will help the unfortunate kids who cannot afford much in life in terms of their travelling expenses, buying nutritious food to help them heal and buying their medication as well.

She adds it is their priority to ensure that every kid gets the treatment they deserve.

As part of the Gala Night, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua players helped in auctioning a signed Drua jersey which was sold for $2,500.
