All Blacks prop Angus Ta’avao will make his return to rugby tomorrow for the Chiefs when they take on the Crusaders in Hamilton in Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Ta'avao who has recovered from a rare torn knee muscle has been named on the bench for tomorrow's clash.

The 30-year-old has just played one first-class match since last year's Rugby World Cup which is their 37-29 victory over the Blues on January 31st.

He was injected from the bench after just 20 minutes when Nepo Laulala went down injured, only for Ta’avao to only last 20 minutes himself, having aggravated a knock taken on his left leg at training session two days prior.

He underwent an operation on the 28th of February for what was deemed a rather uncommon injury.

Other players named in the Chiefs team include Aaron Cruden, Damian McKenzie, Sam Cane, Anton Lienert-Brown and Pita Gus Sowakula.

Meanwhile, Sevu Reece and George Bower have been named in the starting line-up for the Crusaders.

The Chiefs will take on the Crusaders at 7.05pm tomorrow while the Blues will face the Highlanders at 3.35pm Sunday.
