The Suva Volleyball Association Board is calling on the Fiji Volleyball Federation to thoroughly investigate an alleged assault by a player/police officer during the HBK Vulaca Championships last Saturday.

According to the Suva Volleyball Association, the alleged assault occurred during the men’s semifinal between the Suva Blues and Raiwai 1 when a senior player from the Raiwai Men's Volleyball team allegedly assaulted a Suva Men's Blues player after the match.

The Association has taken immediate action by lodging a formal complaint with the Fiji Volleyball Federation.

The Suva Volleyball Board strongly condemns the alleged assault and is urging the Federation to act swiftly and decisively by its protection policies and code of conduct.

They say the safety and well-being of all players, officials, and spectators during sanctioned tournaments are of paramount importance and they also emphasize the need for the Federation to uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of violence and to ensure that all individuals involved in volleyball activities are protected.

The Suva Volleyball Association places the highest priority on the safety of its players and officials, and incidents of violence, regardless of the individual's background, must not be tolerated.

fijivillage News has sent questions to Police regarding the alleged assault by one of their officers. They are yet to respond.

We are also trying to get comments from Fiji Volleyball Federation.
