Senior Superintendent of Police Serupepeli Neiko says allegations of corruption, unfair treatment, unprofessional behaviour to name a few have tarnished the hard work of many traffic officers

While closing a three-week Traffic Investigators Course at the Fiji Police Academy Neiko says it has led to the unfortunate labeling of all traffic officers as corrupt and unprofessional.

He told the officers the knowledge they have gained during the course must be appropriately applied to ensure the change in public perception.

The Senior Superintendent says topics covered during the training included customer service, community interaction, traffic laws and enforcements, operations, management and investigations cover areas that need to be improved upon in order to change public perception.

He says every single police officer who marches out of the Academy following their training is expected to be a better version of themselves, compared to when they marched in.

SSP Neiko says how they implement, depends on their attitude.

He says their attitude will be key to whether they choose to ensure the proper application of knowledge gained, aligned to their processes and procedures.

The Senior Superintendent says their attitude will determine whether they stay true to their code of ethics and be professional at all times.

He adds the expected outcome being personal and professional growth, enhanced awareness and appreciation of one’s profession.
