The All Blacks have named a formidable side for their Rugby Championship opener against Rugby World Cup champions South Africa this Sunday.

Samisoni Taukei’aho will start at hooker, alongside prop Angus Ta’avao and George Bower in a new-look front row.

Scott Barrett returns from injury to partner with Sam Whitelock at locks while Akira Ioane retains his spot at blindside flanker, with captain Sam Cane and Ardie Savea in the loose forward.

Beauden Barrett combines with Aaron Smith at the halves, while David Havili and Rieko Ioane will start at midfield.

Caleb Clarke, Will Jordan and Jordie Barrett make up the back three.

The All Blacks will meet South Africa at 3.05 am Sunday and the Wallabies will play Argentina at 7.10 am Sunday.
