About 280 students graduate from Pacific Polytech

It is the start of a new journey for about 280 students as they have graduated from Pacific Polytech in Nabua this afternoon.

Kinisimere Tuisausau from Naserua, Naitasiri says she joined the institution to graduate from a plumbing course even though it is a men-centred field.

The 21-year-old says this encouraged her to do better and show that women and girls can also compete in the male-centred workforce.

She says she also wants to complete level 2 and 3 courses and later work overseas.

Tuisausau is encouraging her peers that nothing is impossible and everything can be achieved if people put in the hard work.

Aminiasi Lakoenavuli who graduated in front office operation says his parents motivated him to take up the course as he is the only child and they were worried about his plans.

Lakoenavuli says he faced several challenges in his life during school and he wanted to do something through which he would be able to support his parents.

He further says he has been offered employment for three different employees, and it will take some time before he makes a decision.

He adds Polytech not only teaches students to meet requirements but teaches them to give their 100 percent in the field of work they do.

Meanwhile, Pacific Polytech was established in 2021 and it aims to provide opportunities to individuals through TVET programs who did not manage to excel in academics.

Students graduated in hospitality, block laying, joinery, front office operation, panel beating and plumbing. Pacific Polytech based in Lautoka will host their graduation ceremony on Friday.
