About 24,207 people of Tailevu will benefit from the newly renovated facilities of the Korovou Sub-Divisional Hospital’s new waiting area, consultation room and washroom at a cost of $250,000.

Minister for Health, Doctor Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu says one of the priorities of the Ministry is to upgrade health facilities around the country from rural-based nursing stations and health centres, to the Divisional and National referral hospitals.

Dr. Lalabalavu says these renovations have been made possible with the support of the New Zealand Government which enables the Ministry to achieve its outcomes with the effective and efficient delivery of health care services to the people of Fiji.

The Minister says with the effective partnership with the New Zealand Government and its High Commission in Fiji, they have achieved one of the Ministry’s priorities.

He further says the refurbished Makoi Health Centre and new waiting area – a project the New Zealand Government took on for $250,000 was commissioned in September, the Wainibokasi Sub-Divisional Hospital’s new waiting area, SOPD and a new pharmacy in October.

He acknowledged the New Zealand government for their assistance in ensuring that Fijians are not deprived of a basic human right to affordable health care.
