A number of people have been arrested in relation to alleged possession of illicit drugs.

Two men have been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs following a raid conducted on an inter-island vessel that returned from Kadavu on Friday.

The search conducted by the Totogo Operations Team resulted in the arrest of two farmers from Kadavu following the discovery of dried leaves later tested to be marijuana.

The two have been charged and will be produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

During the raid, Police also arrested two men in their twenties from Nadera and Nakasi after they were allegedly found with dried leaves confirmed to be marijuana.

Both suspects have been charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and will appear in court today.

Meanwhile, in a separate raid conducted by officers from the Police Special Response Unit on another inter-island vessel also returning from Kadavu, a 40 year old farmer was arrested and charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs after dried leaves believed to be marijuana was found inside a bag.

All arrests were made possible due to information received from members of the public.

In the Western Division, two men in their 20’s from Nawaka were arrested by the Nadi Task Force Team last Friday and will appear in court this afternoon charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs following the alleged discovery of marijuana in his possession.
