Service providers need to show empathy to people during this crises as it is not about the numbers or an agenda but being there for the people of Fiji.

This has been stressed by the Country Director of Medical Services Pacific Ashna Shaleen who says a lot of non governmental organisations have beefed up their effort in supporting the Government and also assisting the people of Fiji.

She says the Government is doing well in terms of identifying that they need some assistance and their organisation has also partnered heavily with the Government to ensure pregnant women and youths get as much services as possible.

Shaleen says over 2,600 clients have accessed medical services at their Lautoka and Suva clinics since April this year.

She adds women are coming to get help on family planning and unwanted pregnancy and they have seen about 1,300 clients since April, which has doubled pre-COVID.

The Country Director of Medical Services Pacific says they have a little over 100 volunteers and staff at various sites assisting Ministry of Health teams in rolling out the vaccination program.

She says the Lautoka clinic is currently taking maternal child health clients from Lautoka Hospital and they they have also partnered with the Ministry of Health who are now referring their high risk expecting mothers to their Suva clinic.

Medical Services Pacific is also administering COVID-19 vaccine from their Suva clinic.
