99 people were arrested for breach of health and curfew restrictions in the last 24 hours where 60 people were arrested for social gathering.

19 people were arrested for failing to wear a mask in public place within a containment zone, 19 arrests were recorded for breach of curfew while one person was arrested for breaching Ministry the Health Capacity on public service vehicles.

All 18 arrests recorded in the Central Division was in relation to failure to wear a mask while in a public place.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says a team of officers were deployed throughout the day and made the arrests as they step up on the enforcement of the mandatory wearing of masks in a public place within a containment or lockdown zone.

Tudravu says 45 people were arrested in the Southern Division for social gathering who were involved in drinking parties in Colo-i-Suva, Newtown, Cunningham, Kubukawa and Makoi.

He says 24 arrests in the Western Division were linked to consumption of alcohol where people were either in a drinking party or found drunk in public places during curfew hours.

These arrests were made in Nakorokula, Vaukoula, Tomuka Place, Kadavu Street and the Namoli Industrial Area which are all in Lautoka, Clopcott Road and Yalalevu in Ba and Olosara in Sigatoka.

A farmer was arrested in the Northern Division who was found walking along Tacilevu Road during curfew hours after returning from a grog session.
