90,290 voters still have green voter cards, and can still vote using the card – Saneem

As at 2nd of October, there are 90,290 voters who are holding onto the green voter card and 601,588 voters have the blue voter card.

This has been highlighted by the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem who says if you have a green voter card, you can still vote.

Saneem says the green voter cards have expired and no agency will be accepting it as a valid form of ID however, no voter will be disenfranchised on election day.

You will now be able to know your polling venue by texting your voter ID card number to 1500 from any network for free.

Saneem says the platform will go live from 6pm this evening until 6pm on the day of the election.

Saneem has also confirmed as at 2nd of October, 2022 there are 691,824 registered voters in Fiji where 347,111 are males and 344,713 are females.

He says there are 37,060 individuals between the ages of 18 to 20 years, 156,025 between 21 to 30 years, 158,174 between the ages of 31 to 40 which makes up the bulk of the voting population close to 50 percent.

There are 126,056 voters between the ages and 41 and 50 years, 103,489 between 51 and 60, 70,817 between 61 and 70 years, 30,568 between 71 to 80 and 9,635 over the age of 81.

The oldest registered voters are a 108-year-old man from Navua and a 108-year-old woman from Wailevu, Labasa.

There are 9,480 voters who are registered overseas.

The Eastern Division has 26,478 voters, there are 99,734 voters in the Northern Division, 259,527 in the Western Division and 296,605 voters in the Central Division.

He further says there are 78,912 pre-poll voters and 612,912 people will be voting on election day.

The FEO will be needing 7,544 elections officials to conduct the elections.

Saneem further says at this point in time they have determined they will be printing 783,100 ballot papers to allow voters to vote on election day and they will be having 15,454 ballot books.

There will be 855 polling venues on election day and 613 pre-poll venues.
