If 90 percent of children start in class one and do not reach Year 12 or 13, some intervention methods need to be in place to provide some kind of safety net for them.

This has been highlighted by the paramount chief of the Burebasaga confederacy, Ro Teimumu Kepa when asked by fijivillage News to explain more about education in the Rewa Province.

Ro Teimumu says the school drop out in the Rewa Province happens at an early stage of education.

She says for that reason we can see young children loitering in towns and cities, and people always wonder why they are not in school at that age, just because the dropout happens from class 2 upwards.

The paramount chief says they asked the Rewa Education Committee to provide scholarships and the need to look at the TVET programs rather than tertiary education.

She adds 20 scholarships were given to Navuso and 9 to Nadave.
