Eight Fiji Police officers are the first to successfully graduate from the Child Specialist Interview Training facilitated by the New Zealand Police under the Fiji Police Partnership Programme (FPPP).

The training equips officers to conduct child interviews via Video Recorded Interview (VRI) rooms which are now available in all policing divisions.

The graduation ceremony was officiated by New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji, Charlotte Darlow, who expressed her excitement about the completion of this first series of training.

Darlow says the skills acquired will not only assist Fiji but across the region as it will continue to support each other in providing a better platform for the vulnerable members of the community.

She says these officers are the first ones to receive this training in Fiji, and hope it will assist and looking forward for feedback when returning to their various communities.

Darlow also extended a special acknowledgment to the New Zealand child specialist interviewing facilitators Erin Godden and Marama Pocock for their contribution to the program.

The newly trained officers are now expected to apply their skills in their respective communities, enhancing the Fiji Police Force’s capacity to support vulnerable children across the nation.
