45 people in the Rewa, Naitasiri and Tailevu areas had passed away from COVID-19.

This was revealed by the Sub Divisional Medical Officer Rewa Dr Sravaniya Dasi in a talanoa session at Vunivivi Hill in Nausori.

She says most of them had some pre-existing conditions such as heart problems and were also unvaccinated.

Dr Dasi says 6,000 cases of COVID-19 were identified in the three areas and close to 300 civil servants were involved in the COVID-19 operations.

She adds they are thankful to all the civil servants that stepped up and did a tremendous job in containing the virus and reducing the mortality rate.

She is thankful to the people of Rewa, Naitasiri and Tailevu for trusting and believing in them.

Dr Dasi adds the Rewa sub-division has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country and she is grateful that children from 12 to 14 years can now get vaccinated.
