Four soccer players who were suspended for marijuana use have had their suspension lifted and will be Fiji Football Association's brand ambassadors for “Drug Free Football” campaign.

Osea Vakatalesau, Amani Makoe and Valerio Nawatu were suspended since 2018 while Kini Madigi was suspended since April last year.

Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf says very strong representation was made last week on behalf of the players by church elders, NGO’s and community members when they appealed their suspension.

Yusuf says the Fiji FA Board understands that most of the players used to earn a living through football.

Yusuf adds the four players will now be championing the fight against drug use in football.

He adds these players will also be tested regularly now after serving about 70 percent of their suspension.

Yusuf adds the 4 players will be talking to the players of the hardships they suffered while off the football.

Meanwhile, the Punjas Battle of the Giants Tournament starts this Friday at Churchill Park.

Nadi will play Navua at 12pm, Labasa takes on Suva at 2pm, Ba battles Nasinu at 4pm while Rewa will face Lautoka at 6.30pm.
