A total of 327 students celebrated the rewards of their hard work as they graduated this morning from The University of Fiji's Saweni Campus in Lautoka.

The students graduated from the Centre of i-Taukei Studies, School of Business and Economic, School of Humanities and Arts, School of Law, School of Science and Technology and School of Medicine and Health Science.

While speaking at the graduation ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Shaista Shameem highlighted that students must take the responsibility to act in the public good on behalf of their people.

Professor Shameem says the graduation ceremony could provide a united and collective voice for all the generations, present and future, to combat the serious problems faced not only by Fijians but the whole world.

She says the UniFiji with its human values foundation of education and its collective community outlook, serve as a good anchor for the students.

The Vice Chancellor says the University’s data has revealed that more than 80 percent of its graduates are employed in the public and private sectors and many are in senior positions.

She further says the University also encouraged self-employment and entrepreneurship and to ensure that optimum quality higher education is provided to its students, the University’s outputs are assessed on a yearly basis.

Professor Shameem adds that the outcomes related to nation-building and improving the world are also measured annually through the quality assurance unit of the University.
