32 people officially join the Leadership Fiji 2020 program

32 people have officially joined for the Leadership Fiji 2020 program while 27 graduates of the 2018 Leadership Fiji program were inducted as Fellows last night.

The newly inducted Fellows did projects as part of their commitment to the program.

They assisted Dama Primary School in Bua with a new library at the cost of $15,500 last year.

They also donated supplies and provided lunch for the residents for Father Law Home in Lami, planted mangroves on Serua Island in partnership with Mangroves for Fiji, donated supplies for Mobile Kindergarten and also had a clothing drive for the patients of Saint Giles Hospital.

They also organised four Lunch and Learn Workshops to raise funds.

The Human Resources Manager for Kontiki Finance Yvette Samson who was one of the newly inducted Fellows says the journey has been life-changing for her.

She says she is more confident and better understand herself as well as the country and the world around her.

Samson says the Leadership Fiji Program took her out to places where she would not have gone to see.

She says after she finished the program, she got a promotion at work and her career has moved ahead quite quickly.

Leadership Fiji Chairman William Parkinson says 493 leaders have gone through the program in its 19-year history.

He says the program values the fact that leadership is not just about talking about it, it’s about taking action in our community and bringing about change in our community.

He says the Leadership Fiji has introduced a program where members have gone out to their former high schools and spoken to the prefects.

270 student leaders from 10 high schools are part of this program.

Parkinson says Leadership Fiji is also tackling issues that they believe requires public discussion, debate, and action.

He adds they took up the subject of substance abuse where a wide range of views was taken into account to provide a solution.

The Chairman says that they are hoping to begin with a Masters Programme this year for leaders and CEOs who have not gone through the program.
