Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has highlighted in Parliament that the Fijian Government has invested around $315 million into the University of the South Pacific in the last 10 years.

While speaking on SODELPA MP Ro Filipe Tuisawau’s end of the week statement in Parliament, Bainimarama says the Fijian Government is the largest contributor to USP with $27 million in a year and $22 million for the tertiary education loans scheme.

He says with the many allegations on the mismanagement and good governance against USP over the years, the government supported the Council's decision for an independent investigation to be done.

He adds that they have always put a high value on USP's good governance as this will benefit the students, the nation and the region as a whole.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that it would be better if the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption gets into the University because of the corrupt practices that ravaged its corridors.
