30 girls and women will be offered grants by Westpac Fiji this year to continue or take up studies.

This will be done through the bank’s Women & Girls Education grant program.

Westpac Fiji Chief Executive Shane Smith says initially, the program only awarded 10 grants however in light of the ongoing pandemic, and knowing that many families budgets are tight right now, they are offering 30 grants across three categories to support girls’ school studies or enable women to study at tertiary level.

He says their teams have been visiting schools and universities since the term began to encourage applications for the grants.

The grant has helped many women and girls to further their education over the years.

Madhuri Nair, who was one of the Westpac Women & Girls Education Grant recipients for 2020 in the Tertiary/Adult Learner category says she is grateful for the education assistance.

Nair says she was able to complete and graduate with Masters in Business Administration in 2021 and the grant was a blessing during the pandemic.
