Eight people were arrested for failing to wear a mask in a public place in the last 24 hours while 3 people were arrested for crossing a containment zone.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says a 23-year-old student of Wainibuku allegedly breached the containment area by travelling in a fiberglass boat from Suva to Moturiki.

He says two men were also arrested at the Logani Border in Tailevu for crossing without a valid pass.

The Acting Police Commissioner says four men were arrested in Nakasi for failing to wear a mask.

There were arrests for social gatherings recorded in Caubati where five men were drinking home-brew together.

Four men were also arrested in Cunningham Stage 2 for a social gathering while 4 women were arrested for drinking alcohol together in Delaitokatoka in Valelevu and Narere Stage 1.

Tudravu says a 31-year-old man was found drunk and walking along Wailea Street in Suva while 4 men were arrested in Nadera for failing to wear a mask.

He says a woman and a man in their 20s were arrested along Naduya Road, Rakiraki for a social gathering as they were found drinking alcohol together.

Four bus drivers in Lautoka were arrested for breaching the Health Ministry’s 50% capacity rule for public service vehicles.

Tudravu says police will be out in numbers to ensure compliance to the health regulations as we anticipate people to be moving around for their shopping.
