Early Childhood Education students in Fiji are set to benefit from a $22.3 million investment for the 2024-2025 financial year which underscores the government’s commitment to nurture the nation’s youngest learners.

Permanent Secretary for Education Selina Kuruleca says the investment is crucial for shaping the future of Fiji as she addressed educators at the 2024 Fiji Early Childhood Teachers Association Conference at FNU Lautoka Campus.

Kuruleca says the Ministry of Education’s ongoing review of the ECE policy in collaboration with UNICEF and the planned revision of the 2009 ‘Na Noda Mataniciva’ curriculum.

She says the efforts will culminate in a dedicated ECE Teachers Forum where the revised policy will be launched which will focus on professional development.

She further says educators need to be proactive and reminded them the significant impact they have during the early years when children absorb everything around them.

Kuruleca urges teachers to instill values of hope, creativity, and respect, contributing to a brighter future for Fiji’s youngest learners.
