COVID-19 forces FPRA to move the awards to next year.

The 2020 FPRA Awards has been postponed and will be held on the 8th of May 2021.

While making the announcement the Fiji Performance Rights Association Limited Chairman Eremasi Tamanisau says COVID-19 forced them to moved the event to next year.

He says the venue of the Awards will not change and will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

Tamanisau says all the 15 Awards will be given in two categories, one for 2019 and one for 2020.

FPRA Director Laisa Vulakoro says some of the sponsors that committed to the event have paid their sponsorship in full.

Vulakoro says the FPRA Awards would not have been in existence without the support from their sponsors like Taylor Guitars, TABS Investment, Capital Insurance, Digicel, Hotbread Kitchen, Courts, FINTEL, Fijian Holdings, Paradise Beverages, Indian High Commission, Australian High Commission and many others.

The 15 categories for the FPRA Awards include Most Popular, Best Composition, Best New Artist, Best Gospel, Best Hindi, Best English, Best iTaukei Song, Hall of Fame, Outstanding Service to Fijian Music, Best Hip Hop, Best Music Video, International Achievement Award, Best Engineer Recording, Outstanding Guitarist and Artist of the Year.
