2 people appear in the Anti-Corruption Court for the first time

The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption has produced cases against two people in the Anti-Corruption court for the first time.

A company Director, who was initially charged alongside former employees of the then Public Works Department with a count of obtaining a financial advantage of over $30,000 has been additionally charged with two counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice and one count of breach of bail conditions.

Shalendra Kumar is alleged to have interfered with a prosecution witness earlier this month and has pleaded not guilty to his charges.

Kumar has been remanded in custody and the matter has been adjourned to 5th March.

In the another case, former FICAC investigator Mohammed Iqbal has been charged with one count of divulging confidential information.

Iqbal is alleged to have disclosed information connected to an investigation by FICAC to an individual earlier this month.

The matter has been adjourned to 30th April.
