2 Police officers and 7 other people have been arrested for drinking grog at the Vakabuli checkpoint tent in Lautoka.

It has been noted that breaching of social gathering restrictions to drink grog remains a major concern as 63 people were arrested in the last 24 hours for breaching the health and curfew restrictions.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the Western Division recorded 22 cases including 3 people who were arrested as they were travelling in a vehicle without valid authorized documents.

3 people from different households were found drinking grog in Saru while 2 men aged 29 and 55 years were arrested for drinking alcohol and loitering during curfew hours.

He says 2 men in their 20’s breached social gathering restrictions to drink grog at Dammus Place in Lautoka.

A 25-year-old farmer of Vatukoula was found loitering during curfew hours while two others from different households were arrested for drinking grog at Nawaka in Nadi.

Tudravu adds the Southern Division recorded 24 cases whereby 5 people including 4 juveniles were found sniffing glue in Jittu Estate, 4 men were found intoxicated in Nadera while 7 people were arrested in Lami for drinking home-brew.

3 men were found walking along Vatuwaqa during curfew hours while 3 others in their 20’s were arrested for drunk and disorderly at Lepanoni in Navua.

9 cases were recorded in the Northern Division.

The Eastern Division recorded 7 cases including 4 men who were all found consuming alcohol in Nausori Town while a 21-year-old man was found loitering in Nakasi during curfew hours.

The lone case recorded in the Central Division included a 30-year-old man who was found loitering along Walu Bay during curfew hours.
