182,892 Fijians assisted in declared disaster areas after TC Harold

Indonesia gives $300,639 worth of humanitarian relief assistance

A total of 182,892 Fijians have been provided with relief assistance so far in Fiji’s declared disaster areas after TC Harold.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu while receiving $300,639 worth of humanitarian relief assistance from the Indonesian Government.

The relief items included tents, water, food and towels.

Seruiratu stated that while Fiji was still recovering from the aftermath of TC Harold, it is also collectively confronting the global health crisis of COVID-19 and like many other international countries, Fiji has also taken strict measures in addressing the issue.

He says the assistance shows the solidarity and compassion of the Indonesian people.

Meanwhile, Seruiratu had earlier confirmed that the damages sustained during TC Harold to different sectors stands at around $100 million.

Seruiratu confirms that over 186,000 people have been affected by TC Harold where people's homes have been destroyed/suffered minor damages, there was agricultural loss and houses were affected by flooding.

Seruiratu also confirms that government has so far spent about $6 million in response to TC Harold.
