Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew (left) poses for a photo next to Home Affairs Minister, Pio Tikodudua.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew says 181 officers left the organisation last year and out of that number, 92 were from the frontline.

Chew says with the labour force they have, they are managing well in terms of the fight against drugs, but he also confirms that they are not immune from people leaving the organisation for greener pastures.

He says last month, another 41 officers left and he also signed about 10 resignation letters in the past few days.

When questioned by fijivillage News if the organisation needs more officers in their fight against drugs, the Acting Commissioner says they will leave it to the government of the day, if they think the Police need more manpower, then they will take it from there.

He says in 2018, they were supposed to follow a restructure and review program but they did not complete the five phases of the program.

He adds they only completed the first and second phase, and partly the third phase.

Chew says the program is still there and they have given it back to the government and if they are willing to assist them with manpower, they will take it on from there.
