Being part of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua development squad has helped 18-year-old Maleli Nauvasi gain good learning experience, especially coming out of high school, and straight into a professional environment.
In an interview with fijivillage Sports, Nauvasi says training alongside the Drua players has helped him to strive to become a better player and he is still excited about it every day.
Nauvasi was part of the victorious Queen Victoria School under 18 side that won the Vodafone Super Deans title last year, and he was selected into the Fiji under 18 side that defeated the Australian Schoolboys last year.
He says he is living his dream but he admits that he is still learning to become a better player.
Nauvasi says he is focused on his recovery for now and he hopes to get back into full training soon and try to work his way into the senior squad.
He says his recovery is going well and he feels much better than before now.
Meanwhile, the Fijian Drua are set to host the Brumbies at 3.35pm this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, in round 1 of the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition.
In other matches, the Crusaders will meet the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Friday, the Waratahs will take on the Highlanders at 8.35pm Friday, the Blues will face the Chiefs at 6.05pm Saturday, and the Force will play Moana Pasifika at 8.35pm Saturday.
