The 145 Fiji Battalion 41 troops who will serve with the Multinational Observer Force in Egypt, Sinai, have departed the country.

They are part of the rotation that will relieve the Fiji Batt 40 personnel who have been on peacekeeping duty in Sinai for a year.

The Officer in Command of Joint Task Force Command Major Sakeasi Baka, on behalf of the Commander RFMF, Major General Jone Kalouniwai, and the Commander JTFC Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, farewelled the departing troops at the JTFC drill square.

Major Baka has reminded the troops of the purpose of being peacekeepers as they are representing the RFMF, the country, and their families.

Baka says the troops need to be mindful of the welfare of their families back home and if they face family problems in the mission area, to seek counsel from the chaplain.

He also emphasized the importance of discipline and the majority of repatriations are due to indiscipline.

He also urged the Batt 41 senior ranks to ensure their female comrades are safe at all times.
