There was a decrease of 12 percent in complaints against police officers in the last quarter of 2020.

Minister for Defence Inia Seruiratu told parliament that this is an issue the Fiji Police Force does not take lightly.

He says the Police Commissioner has taken this stance from the very beginning.

Seruiratu says when it comes to indiscipline in the Fiji Police Force there are always complaints against officers and the other one is about the services they provide.

The Minister for Defence says the Fiji Police Force has a target to reduce complaints against services and officers to 10%.

He says to help achieve this the Fiji Police Force has recruited qualified psychologists to look at the management of stress levels among officers.

Seruiratu also told parliament that a new state of the art Command Centre has been established in Totogo to monitor Suva's central business district.

He adds the intention now is to mirror that set up in the various divisional headquarters especially the Police Special Response Unit.

Seruiratu has also acknowledged the reappointment of Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho.
