After months of training and volunteering in community works, 10 recipients from 4 different youth clubs in the Central Division were awarded the Duke Edinburgh's International Gold Award.

The youths have successfully completed their bronze and silver award levels between 2022 and 2023.

The gold recipients are Tevita Geka, Savaira Lebamaiwasa, Emele Saufasi, Adi Vesutikoyaconagauna Saitoro, Josivini Taoba Loaniceva and Alumita Gaunatawamudu Saitoro of Holy Spiritual Congregation Youth Club in Vacoko Settlement in Lami.

Lote Daulakeba and Selina Daulakeba of Wakanisila Youth Club, Amali Naitaci Kauyaca of Tokatoka Nabaramai Youth Club and Taito Ledua Dakunivosa of Vanuadina Youth Club.

While officiating at the event, President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere says this is a proud moment for the ten remarkable youths that marks their commitment to personal growth and community service.

The President says the award reflects their resilience and dedication to making impactful changes to foremost themselves and community changes.

He says the May Duke of Edinburgh's International Award ceremony is also the first to be held at the State House and is internationally recognized and is the world's leading youth achievement Award.

He further acknowledges the parents, mentors and respected families of the recipients for the sacrifice they have made and for being a constant pillar of support during their journey.

The President says the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is available to all 14 to 24-year-olds.
