Ten families in the settlement of Naocosaqa in Nabaitavo, Naitasiri finally have access to sanitized toilets.

This was made possible under the ROTA MOLD Project in collaboration with the Field Ready Organisation, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and UNICEF.

Health Minister, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says there was a reported case of typhoid fever in this settlement and the cleanliness of water sources and maintenance of restrooms is vital in order to fight these types of diseases.

He says the aim of this project is to ensure that villagers have access to sanitary toilets in order to minimize and possibly eradicate diseases such as typhoid, diarrhea and dysentery.

Dr. Waqainabete adds these diseases occur because of the lack of good hygiene practices.

The humanitarian project is aimed at assisting villages to have properly installed sanitized restrooms in order to encourage healthy living in rural areas.
