People of Nausori can expect improved water supply as the Water Authority of Fiji will be constructing an additional storage for the Raralevu Reservoir to improve supply to the entire Nausori area that spans from Baulevu to Kiuva Village.

CEO, Barry Omundson says this project will effectively triple current storage capacity, and has been planned in line with the Rewa River Water Supply Scheme Project.

Omundson says it will provide them with the ability to meet peak demand, which is currently not possible with existing infrastructure.

He says residents of Lakena Number 1 Hill and Davuilevu Housing are part of several other areas in an intermittent water supply zone, and as such, will face intermittent water supply from 5 to 6 in the mornings to approximately 10 at night, because of the increased demand placed on the existing infrastructure.

Omundson says while they understand the frustration of their customers and feel for them, these factors are currently beyond their control as the water supply and pressure in these areas is heavily dependent on the level of water within the Raralevu Reservoir.

He says the current infrastructure in the area was not designed to keep up with the high demands placed on it, as the existing infrastructure was meant for lower population size.

Omundson says once the additional storage has been constructed, it will ease the supply-demand issue and help normalise supplies.
