Coca-Cola Tailevu Zone 100 metres blue ribbon champion Senirusi Rauqe of Queen Victoria School

Coca-Cola Tailevu Zone 100 metres champion Senirusi Rauqe of Queen Victoria School says his father was his role model, and he wished that he was still alive to see him win gold in the 100 and 200 metres race.

The 18-year-old, who is originally from Tavualevu, Tavua, ran a manual time of 10.70 seconds to be crowned the Tailevu Zone blue ribbon champion. He doubled up his performance in the Senior boys' 200 metres clocking a manual time of 21.99 seconds.

Rauqe told fijivillage News that during his preparation for the last few months until today, he can still hear his father Filimoni Caucau’s voice, cheering him on at the grandstand.

He says he really missed his father and dedicated his gold medals to his mother, Sainiana Adi Tavualevu, and his brothers, who have been taking care of him.

Ratu Kadavulevu School still leads the medal tally in the boys' division with 15 gold, 16 silver and 9 bronze, QVS is in second place with 11 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze while St Vincent's College is third with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Tailevu North College leads the girls' division with 12 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze, St Vincent is second with 6 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze while Dawasamu Secondary School is third with 5 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.
