NRL players will not spend Mothers Day with family

Roosters star James Tedesco won't be able to visit his mum, Rosemary, on Mother's Day.

NRL players including many of the Fijians who play in the competition will not be able to spend Mother’s Day with their families as they are not allowed to leave camp following further consultation between the NRL board and its medical experts.

An email obtained by Nine newspaper last night says after further consultation with medical experts, the NRL has determined that Mother's Day is not an acceptable circumstance for players or club officials to leave camp.

All NRL players are currently based in New South Wales in Australia including New Zealand-based side, the Warriors

The NRL had hoped that the lockdown would be temporarily be lifted this Sunday, allowing players not living with their parents to celebrate Mother’s Day with their families.

Coaches will also have to wait until Monday to resume contact sessions with full squads under the latest advice from the game's medical experts.

Also, the email underlines that any plans by clubs to ramp up training sessions to full contact on Saturday morning have also been scuppered.

Teams have been limited to groups of 10 this week under Level B of the national principles for the resumption of sport set by the federal government last week.

Level C, for professional sporting organisations, is free of any restrictions and will not start before Monday.

Mother’s Day will be celebrated this Sunday.
