The Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua, is urging Christian and i-Taukei community leaders to take action in reducing drug-related crimes, as this is a major problem in the i-Taukei and Christian community.

When questioned by fijivillage News on what type of action and from which groups he wants this action to be taken, Tikoduadua says this is predominantly an i-Taukei problem, meaning that it is affecting the majority of the i-Taukei community in a very big way.

He says if people look at those who are incarcerated dealing with drugs, 90 percent are i-Taukei.

He adds if people look at this from a faith-based approach, the predominant people who are doing this are Christians who are predominantly i-Taukei.

The Minister says the government stands ready to work with civil society organisations in reducing this issue.
