There is an urgent need to save our ocean as we face issues like decreasing fish populations, coral bleaching, and rising sea levels.

This was highlighted by the Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Sakiusa Tubuna during a gathering with the stakeholders, leaders and ocean specialists held at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi to address the pressing issue of protecting our oceans and wisely managing the resources.

Tubuna urges international cooperation to resolve issues that are endangering our oceans as he emphasized the need for collaboration highlighting Fiji's contribution to ocean conservation.

While acknowledging the diverse collection of persons and the challenges ahead, Tubuna says there are people from all over the world with different knowledge and expertise including those who traveled long distances to assist with this essential work.

He says despite these challenges, they are determined to inspire the world to protect our planet for the future and together, aim to protect and manage 30% of the oceans, Staying strong by working together and being committed to healthy oceans and thriving communities.

The Assistant Minister also emphasized Fiji's significant contribution to ocean preservation and placed value on the involvement of ocean specialists from the Maldives, Bermuda, the Azores, and other locations.

The workshop is a place for international discussions, sharing knowledge, and finding new solutions supported by the WAITT Foundation.

The 5-day workshop will conclude this Friday.
