Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala

Youths of Nabuna and Tavualevu in Tavua were reminded to evade misleading information being spread by individuals that the assistance provided through budgeted and Government-funding is ‘vote-buying’.

While speaking at the handing over ceremony of 2 fibreglass boats and engines to the two youth clubs, Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala reiterated that they are there as a Government to serve the youths and meet their expectations.

He says they are there with the purpose to empower youths and that is their mandate.

Bala is calling to these individuals, who are spreading misleading information, to stop misleading the youths of this country as it does not do any good to them.

He urges the youths to make their own decisions, understand what is right and wrong, and know the difference between truth and propaganda to determine their own future.

Both youth groups expressed their sincere appreciation to the Government for the timely assistance following the 'talanoa' session held at the Nabuna Village in the past weeks.

Jone Nakautoga thanked the Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their timely response to a call for change in improving livelihoods. He says they greatly appreciate the Government’s support in adhering to their request to address youth unemployment in the community.

Nakautoga says this assistance is a solution to their problem and also signifies their concern and thoughts for youths.

The Minister also urged the youths to utilise this assistance to the fullest and they are ready to provide further assistance based on their respective club continuity as well as the outcome of the assessment and analysis conducted on their request.
