Suva Market at 10am today.

The Suva Retailers Association says all retail outlets in Suva except supermarkets and pharmacies will be closed from 7pm tonight until 4am Monday.

President, Jitesh Patel says this is in line with the announcement with regards to the restriction on movements from 7pm tonight.

Patel says retailers should adhere to all necessary COVID-safe protocols and guidelines such as wearing masks, download and use the careFIJI app, maintaining 2 metres social distancing, and most importantly to stay at home and restrict unnecessary movements. He says the association believes they have a shared responsibility to ensure families, staff and customers are safe and this will only be possible through collective efforts.

Meanwhile, fijivillage is still witnessing many people queuing up outside retail outlets but almost standing shoulder to shoulder.

While the 50% capacity is being followed by retail outlets, some are not enforcing the 2 metres social distancing.

People are also seen wearing masks just covering their mouths.

Please do not just do it as a box-ticking exercise.

Wear the mask properly and cover your mouth and nose.

Retail outlets and customers are also required to have 2 metres social distancing even in a queue outside an outlet.

We are monitoring the COVID-19 protocols to be followed on the ground. Stay with us.
